Explore the World of Coding

We have standard workshop material for all of our workshops, but like to communicate with schools before workshops to understand what students already know, and what are the aims of a visit. We then can customise any workshop to best meet the schools’ needs.

From First Steps to Game Design:

Our coding workshops offer a scaffolded journey into the world of logic and creativity, allowing students to transition from digital consumers to digital creators. Using the world-renowned Scratch ecosystem, we provide a hands-on environment where students learn to think systematically and work collaboratively. Because Scratch is a free, web-based platform, the innovation doesn’t have to stop when the bell rings—students can continue building their projects in class or at home.

Junior Creators: ScratchJr (Prep - Yr2)

Designed specifically for our youngest learners, ScratchJr serves as a colorful introduction to the world of programming. By snapping together intuitive graphical blocks, children bring characters to life—making them jump, dance, and sing. The experience is deeply personal and creative; students can modify characters in the paint editor, record their own voices, and even insert their own photos into their digital world. It’s the perfect way to build early confidence in sequencing and logic through the magic of play.

Digital Storytelling (Yr3+ )

In our Digital Storytelling workshops, students use the full version of Scratch to transform their ideas into interactive narratives and animations. This stream focuses on the art of communication, teaching students how to use code to control dialogue, timing, and scene transitions. As they craft their stories, they naturally pick up essential computational concepts while learning to express their imagination through music, art, and motion.

Create Your Own Games (Yr3+)

For those ready to dive into the mechanics of play, our Game Design workshops turn students into developers. This session focuses on the “logic of fun,” where students learn to program game physics, keep track of scores with variables, and create “if-then” interactions. By building their own interactive games, students master complex ideas and systematic reasoning, all while testing and refining their projects in a fast-paced workshop setting.

OctoStudio

Are you running tablet devices at school or cannot run Scratch? OctoStudio is the tablet equivalent version of Scratch created by the same team at MIT that is responsible for Scratch

Minecraft Education: Coding the World

Take the world’s most popular sandbox game and turn it into a powerful learning environment. In this workshop, students move beyond just playing Minecraft and start programming it. Using the Microsoft MakeCode editor, students use “blocks” or Python to automate building, control the weather, and create “superpowers” for their characters. Students learn the core pillars of computer science: loops, variables, and conditionals

Tailored to You

Whether your students are absolute novices or seasoned young coders, all workshops can be customized to suit your specific year level and ability goals. Contact us to design the perfect coding day for your school.
